Client stories from filing seasons

Evidence from financial audit engagements on regulatory reporting applications — extended cases plus shorter reflections from reporting leaders.

These accounts describe real engagement patterns we see when auditing regulatory reporting applications. Names of institutions are withheld where confidentiality agreements require it.

Extended case

Liquidity return rebuild under a fixed BOT window

A Bangkok commercial bank asked us to audit its liquidity reporting application two months before a template change. Preparers had inherited worksheets with undocumented overlays from a prior core-system migration. We sampled high-value lines, traced overnight positions to treasury extracts, and isolated three manual bridges that reversed incorrectly on month-end holidays.

Outcome: Management cleared the bridges before freeze; the management letter flagged one residual evidence gap on branch cash that internal audit later owned.

Extended case

Insurance statutory schedules after a supervisor query

A life insurer received follow-up questions on expense allocation inside its statutory reporting pack. Our remediation readiness assessment retested the new allocation keys across two months of data and found the keys worked for agency channels but still failed for bancassurance trails stored in a separate ledger.

The team refused to treat our capital pack as a black box. They sat with the analyst who maintains the credit-risk bridge and asked for the version history we usually skip in walkthroughs.

Nattaporn K. · Regulatory Reporting Lead, ASEAN banking group

Useful work, though the first draft felt heavy on sampling detail for our audit committee. The final letter was tighter after we asked them to lead with filing risk.

Michael R. · CFO, Bangkok securities firm

We booked the pre-submission review too close to the portal deadline. They still caught a sign-off mismatch on the FX schedule, but I would give them an extra week next cycle.
